New Management for Writers – Refocus. Life Happens.

Under New Management

New management is not only for the store front. You’ve seen that sign in front of restaurants or businesses before. But have you ever seen an author’s page or blog Under New Management?

New Management

Sometimes writers have to refocus, let go of things that take them away from writing, change what isn’t working, and create new ways of performance. This enables authors to become better managers. Let’s face it – authors are “The Management” because it is up to them to see that their books are published and promoted. Let go of the old way that you were used to managing your writing and set up a sign on your desk that says Under New Management. That will help you to stay focused.

At the beginning of this year, I determined to change things I need to change, let go of time-zapping tasks that are unnecessary, and make new habits that are best for me. Included in these changes is making angelahorn.com a blog of inspiration, motivation, and helpful information – a relatable place for authors, bloggers, and writers to visit.

Life Happens

Writer, realize that the factor of being overwhelmed affects us all. Life happens, and it doesn’t occur exactly how you may have expected it to.  So if life has happened, knocking you down, can I give you two encouraging words?

So if life has happened, knocking you down, can I give you two encouraging words?

Get up.

Whatever set you back until you couldn’t even think of what to write about can’t keep you down forever. You have a story, and I want you to write it. Share it with the world.

You can do this.  It gets easier the more you get up and take steps forward.

Write another sentence, paragraph, or chapter today. Tomorrow, write one more. The day after that, keep writing. Don’t stop until you’ve written a book.

The following days after my dad passed away in November 2015, I couldn’t focus on blogging or writing. A writer/blogger friend continually texted and called me. She gave me a writing deadline. It was on a Monday, not even two weeks after Daddy died. I thought she was crazy. She held me to it, though, because she knew someone needed to nudge me, push me ahead a little at a time. Otherwise, I would wallow in my sorrow. Somehow, I managed to write. One day at a time, I did it. That’s probably what especially helped me through the grieving process.

This blog is now under new management, and the new manager is:

Angela Horn, Writer/Author, Social Media Consultant, Marketing Specialist

Need a little nudging, a push to help you? Do these steps:

  1. Write down in your planner when you intend to write.
  2. Update your Facebook author’s page. Don’t have one? Start one. I did. You can do it, too.

Now get up, and go write! 🙂
